Traditional Arts Program

The goal of the Traditional Art program at Trinity is to recognize God as the Master Artist, to observe the beauty of the Lord’s creation, and to create art for God’s glory. As students use their creative abilities and develop art-making skills, they learn more about themselves as well as about the God who created them. The Traditional Art program is available to 6th through 12th grade students, offering three year-long, progressive elective courses at an entry foundational level, an intermediate level, and Honors Art. God’s order of creation is explored through a study and application of elements and principles of art and design in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and clay works. Art skills that are aligned with science, geometry, literacy, and the Bible are often integrated into the art projects. Through the program, the lineage of art movements and artists from past to present, including faith-based Christian art, is researched.

Entry Foundational Level:

  • Focuses on the basics of art, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and clay works.
  • Explores the elements and principles of art and design.

Intermediate Level:

  • Builds on foundational skills with more advanced techniques and concepts.
  • Continues to incorporate various art forms and media.

Honors Art:

  • Advanced course for students with a strong interest and skill in art.
  • Encourages deeper exploration of art history, including faith-based Christian art.
  • Integrates art skills with other disciplines such as science, geometry, literacy, and the Bible.
